Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) vs OnePlus 5T vs Nokia 8
As smartphone war intensifies, we see more handset makers adding new features and more powerful specifications in handsets with lesser price tags. While there are several price brackets in which handset makers fight, one of the hottest segments is the Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000.
This segment offers some of the best value for money handsets like OnePlus 5T and the Nokia 8. The recent entry of Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) in the segment has made the competition more intense. Here’s how the three smartphones compare against each other based on specifications.
OnePlus 5T features a 6.01-inch FullHD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) AMOLED screen, which is the same as in Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018). Nokia 8 has a 5.3-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) 2.5D curved display but with 16:9 aspect ratio, leaving more bezels at the top and bottom.
OnePlus 5T excels in this segment as it has a 16MP and a 20MP sensor, both with f/1.7 aperture. Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) comes with a single 16MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture. Nokia 8 sports dual 13MP cameras from Carl Zeiss and OIS and f/2.0 aperture.
Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) wins the race here with its dual-front camera setup. It sports a 16MP primary camera and 8MP secondary camera with f/1.9 aperture each. OnePlus 5T has a single 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture while the Nokia 8 has a 13MP sensor with same aperture.
Nokia 8 and OnePlus 5T lead here as they run on Qualcomm’s flagship processor Snapdragon 835. Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) has a slightly less powerful Exynos 7885 processor.
OnePlus 5T wins this one as well as it has an 8GB RAM variant in the market. The smartphone’s base model has 6GB RAM. While the Galaxy A8+ (2018) also has 6GB RAM, Nokia 8 comes with 4GB RAM.
All three, Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018), Nokia 8 and OnePlus 5T have 64GB inbuilt storage. However, OnePlus 5T’s 8GB RAM model comes with 128GB inbuilt storage. Galaxy A8+ (2018) and Nokia 8 on the other hand have expandable storage option.
Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) has slightly higher battery capacity than OnePlus 5T and Nokia 8. The smartphone has 3500mAh battery as compared to OnePlus 5T’s 3300mAh and Nokia 8’s 3090mAh battery.
If you are in search for the cheapest one in the market, then OnePlus 5T and the Galaxy A8+ (2018) are the best ones to buy. The smartphones are priced at Rs 32,990 (Rs 9 extra for OnePlus), while Nokia 8 starts at Rs 36,999. The OnePlus 5T’s 8GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 37,999.
